The civil twilight of the morning sunrise creeps through the venetian blinds of a small manufacturers’ floor. The office was open with no wall cubicles. Shouts of inappropriate language from the sales team was balanced by the conversations from the customer service team taking orders. The color scheme was new and modern reminiscent of a Navy aircraft carrier. After five years with a company designing and developing Salesforce process and automating procedures, the IT manager of a small technology department left to create his own LLC. He was genuinely nice, a rare genuine niceness. Overlooking bad behavior of co-workers, foul language, emotional immaturity, and that unfair point the figure during technical challenges, he consistently answered questions and helped. Encouragement, clear communication, and strong teamwork skills are integral with his character as a leader and a developer. He cannot help but be consistently nice and work at a level of excellence-even with the flu. The company decided not to replace him. The atmosphere changed and everyone within the office felt it. Have you noticed in your office setting a change when stellar, good managers or co-workers left to pursue other adventures?
