We all like to hear good things at work regarding our abilities and contribution. But does anyone question false flattery? It is an intentional set up to give ridiculous praise for someone as the subject matter expert on steroids because it is a lie. Good lies are just as deadly as assassinating someone's character. For example, a manager may say "she works tirelessly and knows everything there is to know about this platform module and is the expert at her job and ...." Oh, such wonderful expressions of praise to the point of diabetic coma. This is clearly not an honest assessment and is a set up to fail. The same manager will say about others working in the department "she is considered obsolete and cannot communicate and did not really ask for information and no one can read her written documents because they just shut down at the language used." Motivation by manipulation under the guise of sugar-sweet gobbledegook speech is the ultimate character assassination. It takes a special kind of hatred for humanity to be this dishonest in both false praise and false attack on job performance and personal attributes of co-workers.
Who would prefer an honest appraisal?
